Types of Mastiffs

There are more than eight different types of the mastiffs with very slight differences between individual breeds. However, they are all known as huge dogs mostly used as guard dogs. In choosing a mastiff, one should find a dog that satisfies their needs, Be it a family dog that is affectionate and good around children.

It makes a fine dog for anyone who can accommodate his big size and does not mind a little drool on the rugs.

1.SPANISH MASTIFF.

3.BULLMASTIFF.

Its most distinguishable feature is being highly loyal and affectionate. Bull Mastiffs are generally quiet, relying on their size, strength and reputation to keep intruders away. With a short muzzle and its solid build features, It is one of the best Mastiff's there is.

4.NEAPOLITAN MASTIFF.

NEAPOLITAN MASTIFF

Massive. Muscular, With very wrinkly coat but strong and loyal yet affectionate to the family. It is heavy boned and mostly weighs more 150 pounds but remains devoted to the family. As a guard dog, Neapolitan mastiff remains ardent in keeping intruders away.

5.ENGLISH MASTIFF.

ENGLISH MASTIFF

It is extremely huge but gentle, good-natured, protective and calm. With good and efficient training it makes a good guard dog. Owning this dog is a responsibility and one has to be devoted to taking care of this dog breed.

6. ARGENTINIAN MASTIFF.

ARGENTINIAN MASTIFF

Argentinian Mastiff is a white, muscular and playful dog. It is loyal and one of the easiest Mastiffs to train given devotion and dedication. It is beautiful with a white hairy coat that makes it easy to blend and be part of the family.

7. ABRUZZESE MASTIFF.

ABRUZZESE MASTIFF

It is a cute, well sized small mastiff with a white fluffy coat that is joyful, active and loyal to the family. It remains the most beautiful Mastiff dog breed because of he white hairy coat.

8. CANARY MASTIFF.

CANARY MASTIFF

With a thick and muscular body, the strong-willed Canary Mastiff is good for the home and can also act as a good guard dog. With training it remains loyal to its master and devoted to protects the family.

9. SOUTH AFRICAN MASTIFF.

SOUTH AFRICAN MASTIFF

This is another large muscular Mastiff that is gentle and loyal to its owner yet ardent and not so friendly to strangers. It is a magnificent guard dog that is highly intelligent.

In general, Mastiffs remain loyal and devoted companions to humans. Being one of the oldest dogs that were used as war dogs and were among the first to accompany humans around the globe. The family of Mastiffs remain a very powerful dog breed,almost the same but each breed with his own unique personality. What remains astounding about Mastiffs is that despite their huge size they are still among the most comfortable dogs to be around.
